A few years back, Lego began offering a set called Lego Ideas that allowed fans to submit ideas for new sets. The most successful ideas are subjected to a rigorous testing process before they are officially released. The new designs allow fans to design extremely detailed models that aren’t in any other sets. This process led to the creation of the Voltron set. The set lets users construct five lions made of mechanical parts and then – with some reassembling join them together to form the legendary Voltron.

Professional Lego artists have been creating impressive Lego creations for quite a while. One of these artists is Mariann Nathan who has been a freelance Lego designer for a number of years in the past. Her portfolio contains everything, from replicas of landmarks to a ladybug that is four feet tall and the life-size Pirate.
Another important Lego artist is David Hughes, who recreates famous paintings in brick form. He has a sculpture of Afternoon of a Faun on sale, but beware, it is not cheap.
